Frequently Asked Questions
How often should sharps containers be picked up?
Containers should be replaced when ¾ full or according to your scheduled service frequency. We offer weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly pickup options based on your volume.
Can patients take sharps containers home?
We offer patient mail-back programs with prepaid containers that allow safe home disposal of self-injection sharps.
What happens to sharps after pickup?
Sharps are transported to licensed treatment facilities where they are autoclaved or incinerated before final disposal. You receive a certificate of destruction.
What's the difference between disposable and reusable containers?
Disposable containers are single-use and sent for treatment with the sharps inside. Reusable containers are collected, emptied, professionally cleaned and sterilized, then returned for continued use—reducing plastic waste significantly.
Which container size do I need?
Container size depends on your volume and space. Small practices typically use 1-2 gallon containers, while hospitals may need 8-18 gallon containers. We’ll help you determine the right mix during your assessment.
